Mabel Davis Senior Center
10221 Heather Ave., Calif. City 93505
Deadline
for entries is Wednesday. May 4, 2011. 5:00 pm.
Please note that because the
California City Community Center is undergoing renovation, the 2011 art show
will be held at the Mabel Davis Senior Center, 10221 Heather Avenue in the
Central Park complex. It’s the first building on the left as you enter the park
through the gates.
Artwork will have to be turned in at
that location between 1 pm and 5 pm on Wednesday, May 4th. The total number of
pieces of artwork regardless of media, is six (6). Should there be room to
display more than that, check with the CCAC members hanging the show for
permission for more entries.
There is no entry fee required. Age
limit is 17 and up for adults, 6 through 16 for school children. "Home
Sweet Home" is the theme for the 2011 spring show. Artists must enter
their own work (the exception being children, whose parents may make application
for them).
Art Media include oils, acrylics, all
water media, ink, pencil, pastels, and mixed media, black and white and color
photography, 3-dimensional sculptural works, and fabric/textile art.
Artwork may be sold. Artists who are
selling their work must obtain a one-day business license from the City of
California City, at a cost of $10, for each day they offer their work for sale.
The business license may be purchased from Shelly Hornback, Parks and Recreation
Supervisor, at the time of registration or on Saturday if desired. lf you wish to
sell your work, please put the selling price on a business card and place it in
a corner of the frame or attach to the artwork
in some manner.
If the art piece is not for sale, please indicate
NFS in a like manner. Note: The CCAC will not represent the artist in any way regarding
the sale of artwork. Sales must be worked out between buyer and the artist, and
no work may be removed before the close of the show on Sunday afternoon, May 8th.
Artwork for the exhibit must be
delivered to the Mabel Davis Senior Center and signed in by the artist (or
parent) between 1pm - 5 pm on Friday, May 6th. All two dimensional artwork must
be framed and wired, ready to hang.
Artwork which is not properly prepared
for hanging will be rejected. Artists with three-dimensional artwork are expected
to bring their own supports/tables for display. Depending on the amount of work
received, some tables may be available, but very limited.
Tablecloths will be provided by the
CCAC. Oversize works of art will be displayed as determined by the Arts
Commission, and only with space available. We will do our best to accommodate all
artwork.
Artists or their designee must remain
with the work during the hours of the show on both days, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
on Saturday, 11:00 am to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Arrangements may be made with CCAC
personnel one-on-one if artists cannot remain or need to take a break.
Artworks will be picked up promptly at
3:00 p.m. on Sunday. The CCAC will not be responsible for artwork that is not
picked up. Artists will be given a ticket stub with an identification number
for each piece displayed. Keep these stubs -you will need them to reclaim your work.
